Pangya World Championship 2012 Results

PWC 2012 is finally over. For those who were on my streaming channel knew that this was the most disappointing PWC live stream ever. Thailand's livestream was a failure to watch, and the official PWC countdown timer was 10 hours late on schedule to add even more confusion.

To get the results out of the way, Pangya KR was already aware that the live stream on Thailand's channel was bogus so they updated the scoreboard during progress to keep them informed.

Team Tournament

Round 1
Preliminary Round Format: Team 1 & 2 (A) & Team 3 & 4 (B)
Course: Lost Seaway/ Front 9H / Time Limit 15* minutes

Korea (13 pts) vs. Japan (41 pts) = Japan
Thailand (37 pts) vs. Global (17 pts) = Thailand

Round 2
Consolation Round Format: Losing Team from Group A vs. Group B
Course: West Wiz/ Front 9H / Time Limit 15* minutes

Korea (40 pts) vs. Global (14 pts) = Korea

Round 3
Final Round Format: Winning Team from Group A vs Group B
Course: Shining Sand / Front 18H/ Time Limit 40 minutes

Japan (67 pts) vs. Thailand (41 pts) = Japan

Team Tournament Winners
1st: Japan
2nd: Thailand
3rd: South Korea
4th: Global

*According to Killie that was giving updates for us as we couldn't watch the stream that there was a bug in the system where they had to make 20 into 15 minutes instead.

Singles Tournament

Round 4
Elimination Round: 4 players with best scores will advance to Final Round
Course: White Wiz / Front 18H / Time Restriction 40 minutes

Round 5
Final Round: 4 players competing for ranking and top prize money (1st ~ 4th Place)
Course: Wiz Wiz / Front 18H / Time Restriction 40 minutes

Singles Tournament Winners:
1st: PWC_Igarisan (JP)
2nd: PWC_FP_NangMan (KR)
3rd: PWC_Yo-!So-? (KR)
4th: PWC_FP_sung (KR)

So there you have it, as most of you have already expected (including me) Team Japan takes 1st place on Team Tournament and "Igarisan the Pangya Machine" takes 1st place on singles again!

As for any hopes of a live stream footage, the recorded streams will be available from Korea, Thailand (pssh), and Japan. Korea did announce that they were going to livestream the event along with FP_NangMan participant to commentate, but it was later cancelled until further notice. Japan on the other hand will be announcing their schedule to have the recorded footage later on so stay tuned on here.

Even though it turned out disappointing, I still enjoyed our little Skype discussion while we were waiting for any positive news from GM_Killigrew that helped us on my Twitch.tv chat room. She kept us informed by contacting one of the Global GMs that was over there during the event for live score updates.

As for any future stream suggestions to the Pangya team, keep it on Ustream from now on that Japan did on last year's PWC that turned out smooth.

Whoever created the countdown on the main PWC page really need to know their timezones carefully. Many assumptions were made that I made a mistake saying that the live stream wasn't going to happen until 10 something hours to go...

GM_Killigrew uploaded this picture for us.

Mainlless uploaded a video of a new trailer that I remember seeing a hint of that playing on Thailand's stream before the main event. This is the full trailer from the previous Demon Lord PV. It seems the official name of the new course will be called "Ice Inferno".

You can download the promo video that I've uploaded here.

It's me or Arin has a brand new type of clubset ?

south korea...korea? u mean global...? :T

Team Round 3 Japan VS Global ??
I think this tournament has not good organize. It seems MC on stage has tell more of jokes and more time camera has pan/cutting to main stage instead focused to players in-game screen.
I think it's morely better if this event has organized standalone like PWC 2011 in Japan.

So I assumed the live stream was fine for you from the very beginning? Cause it would start for a few seconds then stop, along with multiple error messages.

(It's Japan vs. Thailand now)

Yeah there are a few new items and gears we haven't seen before on that trailer.

If you are talking about the part where everyone is making their shot, it looks like Arin is wielding the Soul Reaper clubs to me.

Credit to karti/maa and wellz whove been trying to make a play there. It didnt run out so well it seems.I remember emmerson making -20 on white wiz too last year when he was sitting right next to me.and now maa shoots -20.I have to laugh abit about it offcuz cause 2x br makes an horrible white wiz run :D.

Ahh well its for fun anyway.Global is not strong enough yet to take the top4 places yet.I promise myself i try to enter next year again and get my mental calc up.Global cant be always behind lol.

I hope i can see the re-stream in a couple of hours from KR.Cause it seemed to be really exiting with ikari san play etc.He did an insane -39 white agian like last year..He is a mental pangya machine for sure.one of the hardest courses to make -40 and he shoot it like its nothin under pressure.Wiz wiz -38 is pretty insane too.

Cant wait to see :) THX KARTI,maa and wellz for playin see ya later in the game again.

And what the hell is this course name. Cant they make an new original name ? from DEEP INFERNO TO ICE INFERNO :D.

Not to mention its gonna be another ice land place.Cant wait for a new ice spa hahah :D

Ice Valley. Ice Lagoon. Ice Wind. Ice Wiz. Ice Cannon, oh wait.

Good to see we had such a high level tournament right there, those scores were just crazy.
Too bad though we didn't actually get to see it lol.

I'm not view that stream because I have go to BITEC.
It's sound from other people can view streaming in Thailand and talking about this in BBS.
I have view you archive stream and see you and your volunteer can't access the live streaming in Pangya TH Website.
It means if Thailand's staff can port the live stream to other website, hopefully other people around the world can stream fine.
But some live streaming website (Like UStream and JustinTV) has blocked in Thailand due to block some content that contain negative political opinions.

Firstly, kudos to Japan for successfully defending their Single and Team titles. Also, grats to our Global team for trying hard - Karti, Wellz, and Maa. You all played to your best.

However - just saying my 2 cents -I'm kinda disappointed with Global's performance this time round, although some have attributed the lack of prep time (1 month if im not mistaken) as a contributing factor - and there is a gap in standards between us and the rest of the countries taking part.

We ought to set ourselves a higher standard and aim for at least a podium placing in PWC 2013 if possible.

From what I gathered today, Japan will have the video available on their website later on. No actual date just yet.

-40 like during qualifiers in Pangya USA and -20 with 1700 pangs for our players...someone was not using calculators XD

all i can say is----lol global couldnt use ya cheats??

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_z_KthiDLY

Some small footage atleast somethin

haha igari is unstoppable i wonder the calculation technics that he's using amazing

Ops, It's Lucia (at 1.41-1.43) wielding an axe-like club... You're right, Arin uses Soul Reaper.

The one that lucias holds reminds me of the Demon Lord's Arsenal from the psp game

Another video came online in tube

team match Lost seaway + west wiz, (POV) Karti

3y put mis, i luv ya karti hahah :D

You seem to be finding more PWC 2012 contents pretty well. But that's probably because my interest is already over, sadly.

Finally, I have news about the PWC 2012 footage. So far, Korea posted an announcement saying they will broadcast it on their Afreeca TV stream which I'm very unfamiliar of until I start checking it out. It'll be on January 25th.

They said the whole footage is 7 hours long, but they condensed it down to 2 hours, I think. It's going to be in high-quality which makes me a bit concerned if I can able to stream it or not. But, I'm going to say that it won't be a problem b/c Thailand's stream issue was universal, so I'm not going to count that just yet. I may have to find a couple of random Korean live streams to test it out for myself before I make an official announcement to live stream this recorded footage.

Since Korea will be doing it on January 25th, I'm expecting Japan to follow somewhere around that time too.
