My Usual Breakfast

On mornings before I leave home, I usually fix myself something simple and yet satisfying to eat that will hold my hunger until lunch time. One of my simplest dish is rice and egg. This serves as my main protein source for breakfast.

Adding olive oil first before I add one large egg into the frying pan. I prefer cooking my fried eggs well-done.

While the egg is cooking. I prepare my rice bowl and sprinkle a little of sesame oil, sesame seeds

Ramen in Rice Cooker Experiment

When I first saw Matsumoto's idea of cooking instant ramen inside a rice cooker, I wanted to try it out too. So I like to share my experiment today on how it turns out.

The video shown above is done by a popular Japanese show called Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!! You might have heard of them doing the famous No-Laughing Batsu (Punishment) games. They do a variety of shows like "Absolutely Tasty" where

Bulgogi

I consider Bulgogi the best Korean meal ever. Our family has invited many guest over to our house to try it out and we always receive positive feedback from them. You can use meats such as pork or chicken, but beef is the preferable choice. The meat is marinated first before grilling on a portable stove that's commonly used to cook Bulgogi, especially in restaurants.

The dish is usually served with lettuce (I use red leaf lettuce)

Cooking with Rich - Cashew Chicken

I'm back with another segment of Cooking with Rich. I'll be preparing a Chinese dish called Cashew Chicken that's very simple to make. There are many different ways of preparing this dish, but I've taken an easier method that still turns out to be delicious in the end. So I treat this as my own version of how I prepare Cashew Chicken.

There are different ways on how to cook the chicken and what kind of sauce to add to the recipe.

Tteokbokki

Here's another Korean food that I will never grow tired of eating. This segment was going to be "Cooking with Rich" but I cannot find the pictures that I took awhile back when I was preparing it. So I'll settle with explaining what Tteokbokki is about.

Tteokbokki (떡볶이 - Tŏk-bok-kki). To explain what it is in simplest form, it's a spicy ricecake casserole. Till this day, it's still one of Korea's popular snack food and you'll even find plenty vendors selling them on the streets. When I was in Seoul, South Korea, I think I had this almost everyday while continuing to explore the city. It doesn't cost much either and each bite will satisfy your appetite. It's fascinating to eat fresh Tteokbokki from street vendors while watching them prepare more just for you.

Cooking with Rich - Gimbap

Hello hungry readers and welcome to Cooking with Rich! I will be making a delicious and artistic Korean dish: Gimbap. So what is Gimbap? It's basically rice with other vegetables and meat wrapped up in seaweed. It takes a lot of time to prepare all the ingredients first and then you'll have to make it by rolling the ingredients together. I learned how to make this dish from my Mom already so I was able to use that knowledge and incorporate some of my own techniques on making this.

Korean Ramyeon

Did you know that Ramen is actually pronounced Ramyeon in Korea? Most Korean Ramyeon are very spicy that I sometimes find it too hot. I also don't prefer slurping on noodles while my nose is running like a waterfall either. It can be very basic to make, or you can add up some ingredients to give it more taste. Not only it's good, but it's very cheap too, even in restaurants. I've handpicked a few of my favorite Korean noodles that I would like to share. I only eat the ones out of the pack though, but I still find it delectable.
