Pangya United & Wiz City

Remember around the end of 2009, Pangya KR changed the name to Pangya Open Tournament? Other Pangya servers have also moved on from their plain Season 4 title except Japan servers, until now. Pangya JP will receive a new title, "Pangya United" to commemorate their long successful years of their game. Pangya United will receive a major update this week that will bring the contents from Pangya Open Tournament into their server. Let's take a look to see what they will be getting.

4Gamer.net has been given the scoop on the new updates that will appear this week, along with future plans that will have in store for their Japanese players. I'll break down the interview into each segments for easy reading.

1) Special Shuffle Course

The teaser site shown on March 29th gave it away that they will be bringing Special Shuffle Course. The way I'm interpreting from the interview, it looks like it'll perform the same way as Korea's version. You'll still need a SSC ticket to create these rooms before anyone can join in to play. SSC will automatically be set to 30 minutes and all 16 courses with a total of 288 holes will be shuffled from the first 17 holes you play. What makes it more interesting is that you cannot anticipate what hole you'll be playing next. Not only will you need some knowledge on all the courses, but you'll need to conserve your items carefully. The last hole will be set in Demon's land where the tee is set from a high place. There are a total of two holes where one hole you have a chance to make Hole-in-One, and the other where there's a large tunnel on the right side that may get your ball on the green in one shot.

2) Card Pack Volume 2

The second volume consists on a few upgrades from the previous volume one pack while it has some new cards that grants larger impact zones and pang bonuses depending on what course you are playing.

This card is still a mystery as of this day in Pangya KR. Think of it like how the Fragments of Time used to be when Season 4 opened up. Nobody knew what their purpose was. If I had to guess on this card's true purpose, I'd say it has something to do with Demon's Land. Maybe it'll have some meaning behind of it when Boss Battle Mode comes out or something.

3) Caddie Upgrades

This upgrade will only available for purchasable caddies from the shop. So caddies like Sporty Pipin, Big Papel, and even Mingti won't receive any upgrades. I have said this several times before, but if you already own these caddies before this update, you are given an option to leave them the same, or upgrade them. There are no time limit on this either, but once you upgrade them, you cannot revert them back.

What's wondrous about this feature is that they all will have "Control +2" stats so you'll be able to use other caddies besides Cadie or Titanboo without losing that control bonus. Caddie outfits will give +33 units that equals to one full power gauge at the start of the round.

4) Costume Rentals

I'm very surprised to see this happening. Actually this system was implemented long ago on Pangya KR way before Open Tournament came out. So this rental system is where you can rent outfits or accessories for a limited time. It costs pangs too so you won't even need to spend anything out of your wallet. It's a really useful feature to try out some old outfits to see if it looks good when playing, but there are limitations to this. First of all, you can't rent everything from the store, only regular outfits for Characters. So special promotion outfits for a limited time won't count either.

5) Beginners System

A new way for new players to spend little pangs on outfits to give them a great start. You can differentiate which ones are for newcomers with the little bird logo next to the item. It gives out full stats just like any CP outfits. As the name indicates, these outfits can only be equipped for low level players. Once they reach higher levels, they cannot equip them anymore. Also, there are no card slots on them either.

Majority of these contents has already been covered in my Pangya KR Guide. If you wish to view more information about it, then that guide should cover all the materials so I wouldn't have to repeat myself on this post.

More information has arise about the new magical school "Wiz City" along with more new concept arts and an official release date. From the looks of this concept art, it's looking like it'll give great expectations until we finally see the results on how it'll look in-game.

Around August of last year, this is an earlier concept art that we saw on how Wiz City may look like. Judging from the new arts that we are seeing, it looks like they are going in the right direction with their initial idea.

The new course release date set for Pangya Japan will be between May and June. The difficulty level is still not presented yet, but the earlier interviews suggested that it may be around 2-3 stars. Also, in-game images have not surfaced yet.

So far, these contents from this interview didn't show anything new compared to Korea's version. It really makes me wonder if Wiz City is not the Season 5 launch course or not. If that's the case, then I could think in a different perspective that boss battle mode could be similar to give Season 5 a grand new opening.

4-6-11 EDIT: The estimated release date is between May and June, not June 5th.
